Students of the Centre for Engineering Professional Practice and Engineering Education invites you to participate in student presentations solving real manufacturing problems through operational excellence and Engineering principles.
This is an opportunity to hear about their work and meet potential employees who are solving real industry provided problems as a part of their curriculum.
The following will be presented:
MacDon – The objective is to reduce the failure rate of a welding process by 20% by April 14, 2021; reducing the failure rate and defects substanicially on per unit basis.
New Flyer – The main objective of the project is to reduce the Smart Bus Technology team’s processing time in generating the Connect 360 report by at least 30% by April 14, 2021.
Elmer’s – Reduce the station cycle time of the grain cart mainframe assembly from 7.75 hours per cart to 5.5 hours per cart by April 14, 2021, to increase production from five to seven carts per week.
Hylife Foods – Reduce the percentage of aged products in Winnipeg Shipping by 50% from 3% to 1.5% by April 14th, 2021. Provide a cost savings of $100,000 per quarter.
Winpak – Reduce the time to rotate material within the hot room from a daily average of 39.4 minutes by a minimum of 20% to 32 minutes per day, by April 7th, 2021.
Department of Family Medicine – The objective is to create a four-hour process for generating a reliable quarterly report by April 14th , 2021, which will contain details about UMGs financial state and increase transparency and predictability in the flow of finances to and from UMG and help identify surpluses and deficits in a timely manner
U of M – The objective of this project is to reduce the effort to process the academic appointment files by 20% from the current 60% of the process performer’s day by April 14, 2021.
